Table grapes are delicious, and recently they are making their way into 83% of consumers’ baskets and to their homes. 2000 adults were surveyed during the grape season, and 83% of shoppers had purchased grapes at least once in the past 3 months. The follow-up question is, did they eat the grapes? 17% ate grapes every day or at least multiple times during the week, and 24% had purchased grapes once a week, with 42% purchasing grapes at least once a month for the past 3 months.
“Shoppers have long viewed California grapes as a staple – something to always consider purchasing,” said Kathleen Nave, president of the California Table Grape Commission. “Given all the changes in retailing and in consumer shopping behavior in recent years, it is good to see that during the California season, grapes have maintained their position as a consumer favorite and a retail sales driver.”
If you decided to plant grapes, will yours be among the 83% according to shoppers, flavor is most important.
