Social media has been a way to connect and communicate with billions of people all over the world. Despite its many negative uses, it can have the power to help people in many situations. One aspect I love about social media is the ability to join groups- small online communities that specialize in a specific subject. The groups allow you to communicate within the privacy of a specific audience of people who have a vast array of knowledge, experience, and advice!
The best thing is that there is no shortage of cattle-focused groups! You can find many different options and I suggest joining multiple in order to gain a better knowledge of the industry. Overall, they are a great way to help you learn more about all things cows.
- I Am Agriculture Proud This is a group that isn’t limited to cattle, but there definitely is not a lack of cattle posts. You can reach out to members to ask questions you might have regarding your cattle, or you can post cute photos from your farm!
- Cattle Women– If you’re a female into the beef and cattle industry this is a great group for you. I understand what it’s like to want to know what women are doing in the industry and how they handle the ranch life, without all the unnecessary drama that other women groups bring. You can find as much information here as you can in The Cattlemen’s Connection and you’ll have over eleven thousand other women with whom to connect!
- Masters of Beef Advocacy– This group requires that you complete and graduate the Master’s Of Beef Advocacy program (free to do and open to anyone interested in advocating the beef industry). There are currently over two thousand members in this closed group. This group can give you inspiration, tips and skills, for advocating the industry on social media or in your community.
- My Job Depends on Ag– While this isn’t strictly cattle related, it is a great resource for all things agriculture. The cattle industry is tied into so many others, like corn, equipment, policy, etc. Boasting 86.5 thousand followers, you’ll be sure to find many answers to all your farm-related questions on this page.
Your local Cattlemen or Cattlewomen association- Most of these groups have pages, and it will allow you to connect with members in your community. In the current agriculture climate, it’s important to build a community around our industry and this is a perfect way to get involved and stay connected
