And Another Farm Family Is Gone

And another family is gone.
Tomorrow morning, a friend and his family will leave California. He is a horse farrier, and has lived here in California his entire life. His wife works for an airline, so making the transition to another hub of operation is not difficult. And the children are young enough to go with the flow of transition. Idaho bound…
The reason they are leaving? Politics, regulations, and the cost of living.
Some of you may know that one of our administrators made the escape.
And Janet Golden and I have watched the decline of the working families in this state for many years. Some of you may have seen the pictures we post from working trips to Nevada. We go there to work, and build a future.

The first ranch we worked in Nevada belongs to friends of ours. They pulled up stakes in California in 2005, and sank roots deep in the Nevada lands. They wanted a better future for their young son back in 2005, and they found it.

California has not lost its soil, has not lost its water, has not lost its climate.
What it has lost, is it’s common sense.
What it is losing, is the producers and builders of a future.

I said goodbye tonight, to another family that could have survived, if the politics…
